Frozen Yogurt Store Fails to D-Lite
NEIRAD enilno edition
The Tasti D-Lite located at 380 Heights Road is different from the other ice cream places in town. Tasti D-Lite isn’t vanilla frozen yogurt, but rather plain frozen yogurt. Eating their frozen dessert items without toppings can be kind of sour but putting on fresh fruit, chocolate and other things makes it sweet and actually tasty.
The whole point of this new frozen yogurt is to have a healthier choice (hence the store's motto, "dessert your guilt"). The yogurt has less fat, offering another alternative to ice cream. However, when candy toppings are added to make it taste better, it then somewhat negates the process since the calories and fat grams quickly add up.
The main flavor at Tasti D-Lite is original. This signature flavor tastes like something your parents make you eat to get on a healthier diet, but with all the candy you can put on makes it much better.
The calories range from 70 to 100 calories per four fluid ounces depending on the toppings. A small cup of yogurt at Tasti D-Lite is $3.75 and a large is $4.75 with one topping.

Tasti D-Lite’s main goal is to give people a treat without getting off track to a healthier diet. Though to me it seems like cheating on a diet when you can put a bunch of chocolate on top of a healthy item. I got mine with chocolate chips, so some people would call that cheating. But i think if you’re going to have ice cream or even frozen yogurt you should go all out and get the chocolate. If eating chocolate is wrong I do not want to be right!
On the Tasti D-Lite Web site, it mentions that the organization’s values are trust, accountability, integrity, caring, respect, dignity and enthusiasm. Although I am not sure how you can get all of those things out of frozen yogurt, they pride themselves on those qualities in business practice at this store, which opened in April.
Most people think that Tasti D-Lite is a knock-off of Pinkberry (another plain frozen yogurt store). But honestly I can taste no difference. Both are a sour yogurt that tastes even better with when you can put non-healthy things on top. Although there are not so healthy choices for toppings there are also choices such as fruit. So if people want to stay on their health kick they can eat here without completely cheating. Tasti D-Lite is a good and different place in Darien to go get something to sweet to eat minus the calories if you can eat the plain yogurt solo sans toppings.
