Taiki Miki, Lazy like a Fox

Most students know him as Taiki Miki. Some even call him Tiki Tocki or the Taikmister. This month Taiki can add a new nickname: two-time winner of the Neirad Enilno Hot Prize Contest.
“Every year I dream of winning the prize. But I can’t let my secrets out or else I might get taken down by some witty person.” Taiki said.
This junior is one of five winners in the November Neirad Enilno reader’s contest. Taiki was joined by fellow students Liz Calby and Zac Calahan as well as juniors Sophie Watters and Sophie Doering (who received a $10 Uncle’s Deli gift card).
Taiki is a cut about this contest winners’ roster: Not only did Taiki win this year, but he is the only student in the school who can say he was the first to enter and win the contest two years in a row. Last year Taiki also nabbed a $10 Uncle’s Deli gift card.
Taiki was the first one to turn in the quiz, so he is on top of his game. Sophie Doering may be a top field hockey player, but Sophie is no match for Taiki on the contest playing field. “He’s just too fast to compete against,” Sophie conceded.
Taiki’s contest prowess is a combination of keen-reading ability (since the contest is based on reading Neirad Enilno stories and finding the correct answers) as well as getting off the mark fast.
The gift card prize is worth it for Taiki. So once the quiz comes out, it is go time. He is always the first to submit his quiz. Taiki just has the golden touch when it comes to ferreting out answers from the Neirad Enilno archival stories.
“I just get right down to business. To me it’s a matter of who finishes it first, so getting it done as quickly as possible will lead to success,” this contest king said.
Despite Taiki’s success on the online quizzes, some still think Taiki can be a tad lazy. “Taiki knows how to prioritize his work by doing as little of it as possible, but still ends up with a great grade,” junior Dylan Hurd said.
Maybe this nonchalance is one of his motives to deflect attention in the classroom, but when it comes to Neirad Enilno contests quizzes, Taiki is all about being number one. Taiki even feels that the quizzes don’t demand enough of his considerable contest skills. “I think the quiz is fair as-is. But, I want the Neirad team to challenge me.” Taiki said.
Neirad business manager Kevin Cassidy oversees the reader’s contests. In this capacity this junior Neirad moneymaker writes the quizzes that are supposed to challenge our loyal readers. Kevin, like Sophie, admits they just can’t get the best of Taiki.
“Taiki just knows all the secrets to win the Neirad Enlino Quiz. It’s hard to stump him.” Kevin said.
Taiki has quite the reputation around the halls of Darien High School, as people have come to respect him for more than his contest prowess. “Taiki is crazy, he wears flip flops and shorts when it snows” junior Ricky Miller said.
In the library, Taiki is known for his domination of online games. His favorite thing to do online is do the USA Today crossword puzzles. Also, Taiki and junior Brian Curry face off occasionally at the game Traveler’s IQ. “I dominate Brian. I can’t be stopped” Taiki said. His competitor, Brian Curry, said “It’s weird, Taiki will not be doing that well and then all of sudden he is beating me. He’s ridiculous, but I will beat him some day.”
Taiki is not cutthroat about this superiority. He always has the ability to make a person laugh, even when they are feeling down after a tough academic assessment. “He will always make you feel better about a hard test, but usually because you did better then him” junior Mike Sawitsky said.
Ricky said that Taiki is quite the “jokester” and can always seem to put a smile on his face. It’s almost as if Taiki has magical powers, because there is literally no one in the building who does not like Taiki Miki. He just doesn’t have the quality that gives off negative energy. Taiki is just one lovable person.
So next time Neirad Enilno comes out with an online quiz, watch out for Taiki Miki, as he will be looking to defend his title. Maybe you can be the one that will be able to stop his indomitable reign.
