I would first recommend Eclipse Peppermint gum, the peppermint flavor.
I find that the two brands lose flavor around the same time, so your choice between the two really comes with your preference. Dentyne tends to be more fresh and spicy than Eclipse.
Orbit is an ever-popular brand in which I have an on-and-off relationship. Although the classic peppermint and spearmint flavors are long-lasting, the texture and consistency becomes somewhat rigid and becomes difficult to chew after awhile. At some point, the difficulty to chew outweighs what little flavor is left.
I have to put Winterfresh gum at the bottom of my list. I really only pick up a pack of this brand when I find that every other brand has been sold out at Uncle’s or Vavala’s. The flavor is too strong and the physical size of each piece of gum is too big. Sometimes there can be too much of a good thing, even when it comes to minty freshness.
We can’t leave out the original brand of gum, even though, in my opinion, the newer brands have surpassed Wrigley’s Doublemint gum. To me, this gum has too much of a fruity hint to it. I would not recommend it for a romantic outing, but it’s always there as a nice throwback “blast from the past.”
You may be wondering why I left of the other category of gum out altogether. This is a mint gum review, containing information on what gum you should choose for that special day. Bubble gum is for completely different occasions, for leisure, boredom, or to anger a teacher. A review for the fruity sensation of bubble gum is for another day.

A Review of Mint Gum

You’re about to go on your first date. After getting dressed, combing your hair, and brushing your teeth there is still something missing from your ensemble. You need something to keep up your good first impression throughout the night: gum. What kind of gum are you going to chew on that big day? As an avid gum chewer, I have reviewed a few different kinds of gum in hopes that you will be satisfied with a long lasting and flavorful piece for any occasion.
I would first recommend Eclipse Peppermint gum. Even Eclipse Spearmint is good, but I personally like peppermint flavor better. Small pieces, a burst of minty freshness, and a consistent texture for a long while are all attributes of Eclipse brand gum. This brands drawback is that it loses flavor after about an hour. There are 12 pieces to an Eclipse pack, so if you are a consistent gum-chewer, plan on going through a pack in two or three days. Plan on spending just under $2 per pack.
Dentyne Ice is another brand that manufactures peppermint, spearmint and cinnamon options. Slightly smaller pieces than Eclipse, Dentyne hits you with an even more intense burst of initial flavor.

The # 1 choice: Eclipse gum keeps a consistent texture while giving its chewer the minty breath needed

Orbit has many great flavors and is long lasting, but the texture can become a little bit funky after a while.
The last choice: Winterfresh gum, while having the same amount of minty freshness that lasts about the same time, tends to be too big, and the flavor too strong.
