Buried in the woods on Middlesex Road is a mysterious little house. No one knows who built it. This structure has been there at least 16 years.

The Hannons don't know that much because it was sitting in their backyard when they moved there in 1992. According to the Darien Tax Assessor there is no record of this structure. They checked records dating back to 1955, but could find no data to determine when this little playhouse was built.

This light green wooden structure has eight windows, a roof, electricity, and a decaying floor. “There is electricity but we don’t use it, " sophomore Erin Hannon said. "We rarely go in there so I don’t even know if it still works.”

It’s a secret hideout that has seen better days, but is always there waiting for the next person to use it for a fort or a clandestine clubhouse.

This small house has been deep in Erin’s backyard for as long as she can remember.

In fact, even her longtime friend of five years, sophomore Megan Archey, didn’t know the place existed. "It's way back in the woods, so I've never seen it," Megan said.

Neirad took a look at Erin’s “Mystery House” and brought back these photos.
