After the start of her senior year well spent, Girls' Varsity Lacrosse player Clemmy Little is ready to crack down for an intense spring season. “I am really excited; I think we’re going to have a really successful season. We lost only three seniors last year, and we have a very strong senior class, as well as great underclassmen,” Little says.
Clemmy's Top 5 Places She Wishes to Visit:
Little has been playing lacrosse since sixth grade. She has been involved in not only the DYLAX program and the program at DHS, but also two club teams. Both Newlax, and Chargers have helped her reach her potential. She says she has gained much knowledge from playing with a variety of coaches outside the Darien program.
Little is well respected by her teammates for her positive attitude and success in the sport. “She is a very smart player. Great shot and a quick dodge. She definitely works the defenders,” junior teammate Lanning McDonald said.
Her skills, speed, and great sense of the field have gotten her far in her lacrosse career. She will be attending University of California Berkeley in the fall. Berkeley is a Divison I program in the MPSF league. “I am really excited to play for Berkeley, and I feel prepared after getting insight from my sister who is now a senior and captain of the team,” exclaims Little.
Little, as well as the other players pursuing lacrosse at DHS, has been training at Bluestreak this past winter. Bluestreak entails running short distances at high speeds, weight lifting, and cross training. “The trainers at Bluestreak cater to our team in order to allow us to reach our greatest potential to get ready for the season.” Along with Bluestreak, the girls have been playing indoor lacrosse at The Academy of Sports in Stamford on Wednesdays.
Little is eager to get back in the swing of things and to be with her teammates again. “Our team has a great bond that I think a lot of other teams admire, on and off the field, regardless of grade,” she said.
As a strong low attacker, Little will be an imperative asset to the team in racking up the goals. “Clemmy has an unstoppable shot, and she is quick around the net,” says fellow senior teammate and goalie, Phoebe Maglathin.
