Barack Obama
What's there not to like?
NEIRAD enilno edition
Democrat Presidential nominee Barack Obama has swept the nation with promise and hope. In a time of a world economic crisis, a seemingly endless war, and a federal debt that has exceeded more than $10 trillion, it is obvious that our nation needs to move in a new direction. The Illinois senator has promise to bring America into a better state both domestically and internationally while Republican Presidential candidate Senator John McCain’s plan seems to be a replay of the Bush administration’s policies over the past eight years.
Barack Obama’s most attractive trait is his eloquent speech that fills the heart with courage and determination. At this low point in American history, Americans need an influential and exciting president to inspire and set the nation back on track from this economic crisis. Obama’s keynote address “The Audacity of Hope” at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 definitely invigorated me along with millions of Americans with its patriotism and desire for positive change.
McCain on the other hand, literally put me to sleep during the most important speech of his career at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis in this past September.
The most common criticism lobbied at Obama has been his supposed “lack of experience.” Though it is true that Obama has only been a senator for one term, he has proved to be politically savvy as shown through his work in the senate as well as his domination over McCain at nearly all three of the presidential debates.
One thing that is particularly ironic is that one of America’s greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln, came from Illinois too and had spent little time in the senate. As any history teacher will tell you, history at times does repeat itself.
To cover for his “inexperience,” Obama chose, Delaware senator, Joe Biden, as his Vice President. Biden is very qualified and experienced congressman of nearly 37 years, having served in the capital since Obama was just 11-years-old.
