Top 5 Things Students Like About School

A t first, DHS students were asked what their least favorite things about school were, but we decided that was too easy. So we challenged them with a tougher question: What are some things they actually like about school? Besides the standard responses of liking free periods and lunch, we got some interesting answers.
Sports - Sophomore Alexa
"I play volleyball in the fall, indoor track in the winter, and softball in the spring. I like playing sports at DHS because my friends are on my team. Also, it'sfun because the whole team dresses up on the days we have a big game and it shows our team and school pride."
Clubs and Volunteer Work - Senior Nils
"I am a part of the DHS School Atmosphere Committee, Free Thinker's Club, and set crew. I also volunteer for Invisible Children through the high school."
Neirad - Freshmen Jose
"I like how our school has a school newspaper, Neirad. I hope to write for it next year."
Seeing friends - Juniors Demi and Phoebe
"Being able to see all of our friends every day makes school a lot better."
Art classes - Freshmen Michele and Lauren
Lauren: "I really like the art department at Darien High School because there are so many classes and opportunities. I visited a boarding school recently, and our art department is way out of that schools league. They only had two classes. I just finished Art Foundations, and I'm working on Drawing and Painting 1."
Michele: "My favorite part of school is art. I especially like the photography class. I think it is great we have a dark room to develop photos it is really lucky for our school to have that facility and the opportunity to take that elective."
